Causes and solutions to foaming problem in aeration basins
Causes:
In bottom aeration system, the floating vertically upward bubbles bring the organic matters and surface-active agent which are not degraded to the surface and adhere to the water surface. The foam has no contact with the activated sludge and no chance to degrade, forming the foam layer on the surface of the liquid.
Surface aerators stir the high-rate sewage (e.g. paper and pulp) violently and intensely. The foam also has no contact with the activated sludge and no chance to degrade. The aerators operate like foaming machines
The solution to the said problems is to install the swing-type submersible floating aerator. The swing device enables the aerator to aerate both inner sides of the ditch. The water-gas mixture is pushed and collides with the inner wall of the ditch. Two split-flows were created, the lower split-flow rolls up the settled sludge at the basin’s bottom. The upper split-flow rolls down the foam and mixes it with the sludge. The foam is degraded and does not accumulate any more.

成因:底部曝氣的氣泡直線上浮把未被降解的廢水有機質和表面活性劑而形成的有機氣泡粘附在池表面,在進水段由其嚴重。它們不能快速接觸到活性污泥被吸附和降解,進而形成堆積層。
表面曝氣機在高濃度廢水(如造紙廢水)表面攪拌水體劇烈、集中,飛濺的泡沫沒有接觸水體中的活性污泥而被降解的機會,造成泡沫大量粘附在水體表面,形同造泡,越積越多。
解決方案:
安裝回轉潛浮式曝氣機,利用回轉裝置使整機向池體兩側輪流進行推流曝氣,被推動的水氣流碰撞池壁后造成上下分流,下分流卷起池底活性污泥向上,上分流卷起池頂泡沫向下與活性污泥混合,并被迅速吸附降解,泡沫不再聚集或增加,達到物理消泡之效果,且不加任何消泡劑即可實現。
